Almerisa

Photographer Rineke Dijkstra's series Almerisa at Moma, NYC. Bosnian refugee girl moving to Amsterdam at age six. I love how the pictures, despite their boldness, keep Almerisa's secrets intact. We "see" her, yet she remains fairly concealed.

poupée de cire

How eerie? Forgotten dolls in couture. An abandoned attic stages one of my favorite editorials "I'm a Marionette", POP Spring/Summer 07. As if John Galliano was invited to tea among the creatures of the slightly terrifying doll maker in "Fanny and Alexander". The result; Pale procelain, broken gazes, intertwined limbs and fabulous doll costumes! In other words; terribly pretty.

If only...

...snow in New York could be a tad more fairytale and a tad less slush I'd be psyched as a sugarhigh child.
